Start of the side quest: The house-elf in distress in Hogwarts Legacy
Before you can begin the House Elf in Distress quest, you must complete the following the main quest The High Dungeon in the game
- After rescuing Highwing and another hippogriff alongside Natty, you'll receive an express owl from Professor Weasley asking you to meet Cheek in the on-demand room.
- The Elf explains that his old friend, Tobbs, is locked in a spider-infested cave and can't get out because of his cruel master.
- Cheek then suggests you try out your upgraded equipment and look after Tobbs, which will lead you to the quest.
- Accepting this proposal triggers the side quest: The house elf in distress.
Progress of the quest
To succeed in this quest, you must find Tobbs inside a cave and bring it back to Cheek.
- First, go to the location indicated on the world map, traveling quickly to the Campolard-en-haut Cheminette flame.
- Then walk or fly on a broom or flying mount to the entrance of the Spinners' Cave.
Once inside, here are the steps to find Tobbs:
- Climb the slope to the southeast and jump on the platforms to fight some spiders.
- Turn right and use a fire spell to burn the webs blocking the way.
- Go through the dark tunnel and head southeast when you see a crossroads.
- When you see a large clearing, burn the web blocking the passage to the east and continue.
- Fight the spiders and keep heading east while climbing the spiral slope.
- Jump south on the other side and go through the hole.
- Defeat the enemies and climb the slope to the southeast.
- Destroy the crates blocking the path to the west and go through another hole.
- Kill the Fugitive Spider and continue west.
- At the end of the road, all you'll find is Tobbs' body and a note containing his last words.
- The elf failed to fight the big spider, the Fugitive, and he apologizes.
- When you return to Cheek in the On Demand room, tell him about the cruel end his friend met in completing the quest The Elf in Distress.
