Among the large number of side quests offered in Hogwarts Legacy alongside the main story, the quest called Follow the Butterflies is accessible after the first potions lesson with Professor Sharp, in the fourth act of the game. This side quest triggers by a conversation with a woman named Clementine Willardsey at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade. She will tell you about a swarm of butterflies and point you in the direction of the Forbidden Forest.

Most side quests in Hogwarts Legacy allow players to learn a specific mechanic that will be useful to them throughout the game. There was light, except it asks players to follow a wave of moths, rather than guiding a single one to a certain position for a reward. However, it will allow you to obtain rewards like the other side quests in the game.
To complete this quest, you will need to follow butterflies from the entrance to the Forbidden Forest to a chest located a little further. By opening this chest, you will receive a Planter (furniture), which you can use in the Room of Requirement once you gain access to it. If it's the first time you follow butterflies to a treasure, you will also get the trophy/achievement: Follow the butterflies.
The quest ends when you have opened the chest, and you will then have to quickly return to Hogsmeade in the direction of the Three Broomsticks to report your findings to Clementine. She'll give you a collectible that can be used to decorate the walls of the Request Room, and of course the 180 XP like at the end of the other side quests.
