Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world RPG that is exceptionally rich in side-content, giving players the chance to further improve their in-game skills by taking part in the side quests, which are also a must to complete the game at 100 %.
These side quests are given by NPCs other than the professors who teach spells in exchange for the main quests. They each have their level of difficulty, with a wide variety of missions to offer players.
In the side quest titled In Troubled Waters, you will be contacted by a Slytherin student named Nerida Roberts, who wants to retrieve a gift, which is in the Slipping Cave. She will then ask for your help because she can't swim.

You can start it by speaking with Nerida Roberts, who you'll see sitting by the water when you arrive at the Hogwarts Boathouse. You will be asked to retrieve the Water Beasts Artifact, the gift the Water Beasts left for Nerida Roberts in the Hogwarts Grotto.
Here's how to get it:
- Swim to the marked spot near the boathouse.
- Dive into the Escaped Cave.
- Inside the cave you will find three moths to open the locked door.
The butterflies are clearly visible, but they will still need a little help to get to their destination. To do this :
- Cast Incendio or another fire spell to burn the webs blocking the path of two of them.
- Use the Lumos spell to guide the three butterflies to the locked door.
- Moths cannot be guided at the same time, so one must be tracked at a time.
Upon opening the door, you will discover a chest containing the Artifact of the Water Beings. You will have the choice of keeping the item or returning it to Nerida Roberts. If you hand it to her, you'll leave her giddy and excited, but you might disappoint her by keeping it. In both cases, you will be rewarded with the Water Beings Liaison Uniform in addition to the 180XP.
About Nerida Roberts
A Slytherin student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Nerida Roberts insists on establishing a ministry liaison office for the goblins. According to her, water beings should also have a liaison office at the ministry, like goblins and centaurs. She also believes that wizards shouldn't look down on water beings as their communities are similar.
This is why she is keen to retrieve the artifact from the water beings as it will allow her to prove her sincerity in improving the relationship between wizards and water beings. She longs to know everything about them and wants to teach them everything they want to know about wizards. The young Slytherin is convinced that if the two parties understand each other better, their respective societies can flourish together.
