History of Galleus Crête-sang

Galleus was shrewd and strong, educated in both courtly decorum and street smarts. Nothing less was needed to survive as Commander-in-Chief of the Arnoc City Guard and one of the few Lizardmen trusted by the mainly human supervisors of Arnoc's defense. He was torn between absolute loyalty to his masters and rejection of his heritage and the "wildness" that, for most of Arnoc's inhabitants, was inherent to his species.

This prejudice prevented most Lizardmen from becoming respectable members of society, creating an underclass of vagrant, criminal Lizardmen who reinforced the bias, producing a self-perpetuating cycle. Galleus, having no desire to be persecuted like the rest of his people, placed his fate in the hands of the oppressors.

Galleus was recruited after venturing alone into Arnoc's sewers to try to rescue kidnapped children, including one of his cousins, and to obtain the reward for killing their captors. Armed only with a sickle and hatchet more suited to agricultural work, he hacked his way through the gigantic rats, slimy slime and fetid drowned Undead that were delaying the kidnappers, before killing many of them.
