History of Espoir

Sister Hope does a lot to honor her name, both on the battlefield and through her good deeds. A simple miller's daughter, she was orphaned at a young age following a brutal orc raid. Only the timely intervention of a patrol of Holy Order horsemen ensured that the young girl did not suffer the same fate as her family, even if starving to death was not a much brighter prospect. Fortunately for Hope, her appeal did not go unheeded and she was adopted by one of the Order's abbeys, where she was educated and trained. Artisans and caterers of all kinds are always in demand, and it is in everyone's interest that the orphans and destitute cared for by the Order repay their debt by devoting themselves to it throughout their lives. But it's not a life of peace that Hope was looking for. Her experiences shaped the young woman and pushed her to excel in the ways of war. She swore a powerful oath to Lumaya, imploring the goddess to give her strength, so that, by Hope's hand, atrocities such as those inflicted on her family might be averted. Whether it's Lumaya's grace or Hope's strength of conviction, the latter has since blazed her trail as a champion of the innocent. She's not shy about meting out ruthless justice to the godless and outlaws, but it's her kindness and selfless devotion to her allies that makes Hope an asset to any band of Champions. His faith alone can serve as a shield to those on his side, but his anger is also terrible to behold. Its blade doesn't just shatter armor and tear flesh. Using the power of faith, she dispels the protective magic used by many enemies, exposing them to other Champions of Hope.
